1. Microchipping: Your new pet will be microchipped, ensuring that they can be easily identified and returned to you if ever lost.

2. Vaccinations: Our animals are up to date on their vaccines, tailored to their age.

3. Health Tests: Dogs are tested for heartworms, while cats are tested for FIV/FeLv, ensuring that any potential health issues are identified early on.

4. Spaying/Neutering: To promote responsible pet ownership and control the pet population, all our animals are spayed or neutered before adoption.

5. Deworming: We also ensure that our animals are dewormed, keeping them free from common internal parasites.

6. Flea/Heartworm Prevention: Our pets are given up-to-date flea and heartworm prevention treatments, safeguarding them from these common pests.

7. Medical Records: As part of the adoption package, you'll receive a copy of your pet's vaccine record, medical notes, and any known medical history, ensuring you have all the essential information for future veterinary visits.

To ensure the well-being of our adoptable animals and make certain they go to loving, prepared homes, we have a structured adoption process:

1. Application: All potential adopters must complete an application, which will include references and details about your experience with companion animals.

2. Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old.

3. Identification: Please bring a photo ID with you.

4. Renting a Property: If you rent your home, we require proof of landlord approval for keeping pets.

5. Existing Pets: For those with other companion animals, ensure you bring proof of their up-to-date vaccinations. Additionally, for dogs, we need evidence they are on heartworm prevention.

6. Review Process: All applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and the final approval decision rests solely with Special Pals staff.

Remember, our main priority is the long-term well-being of our animals. Adopting a companion animal is a significant, life-long commitment, and we want to ensure it's a perfect match for both the pet and the adopter!

Visiting Hours: We warmly invite you to meet our adoptable animals during our regular business hours, which are daily from 12 pm to 4 pm.

Adoption Application: If you're keen on adopting, please make sure to visit the shelter in person to fill out the Pet Adoption Application.

Holidays: Do note that our shelter remains closed on all major holidays. We recommend checking our schedule or giving us a call if you're planning to visit around these times to ensure we're open.
